A pack of cards is cut, literally! The card case has also been cut along three sides so that it can be folded back to show the two half packs of cards.
These two half-packs are removed and shuffled by a spectator before being replaced in the box which has clearly and openly been shown empty. From a second deck the spectator selects a card which is placed upon the table. The magician says that he will try to bring the two halves of the selected card together in the cut pack. While the audience expects the magician to bring the two halves to the same position in the pack, he astounds them by opening the lid of the box and withdrawing a whole card which is the duplicate of the selected card. The other half cards are tipped out and the box again shown empty.
The restored card may be examined. The join line can even be seen! But no one will be able to work out how the two halves have joined together and the restored card may even be given away as a souvenir.
